After a few night of insomnia and not able to sleep well, I was not surprise to wake up with a headache this morning, but still managed to crawl to the starting pt at MR about 6.30am.
the gang was already there and changed, i quickly put on my shoe and fuel belt. This morning, it was part of the tapering training for them and menu was 20km.
Starting of the run, it was really slowed, I took it real easy, as I am not feeling well. not wanting to go the full 20km distance, i told myself to stop at every tactic halt and then decides if i want to go ahead.
first tactic halt, my headache felt better. we conquered the 2 hills and proceed to the golf course. It was already hot when we reached the field. We took a quick toilet break and discussed if we should continue to the gate. haha. Tao and myself took the aircon road and u turn, while the rest ran to the gate and air con road.
on the way back, not much happening. the leg was still strong and manage to finish the 2 hill back easily. running back from the ranger station was already in cruising mode, while the leg was pounding, the mind was in some where esle. I guess this was what they meant as natural "high"
complete 18km
time: 2hour 45mins.
not fast, just as i liked it, good base training, hopefully we can ride tomorrow after 2 weekends of raining. keeping finger cross.
After months of training, some only weeks. This is the time to taper down your distance. Taper means, not going for full hard runs, just enough to keep the engine warm and the leg moving for the last few weeks before the marathon. for those who had not being training much, this is not the time to do extra training. Running a marathon is not like mugging exam. It take months of structure training and a good based of physical abilities.
Now it is time to rest, even though your training was not enough, it is better to be mentally strong, physically unprepared, then a injury body from the last minute training you are trying to do now.
rest well now and enjoyed the process. Conquer the Monster 42.195 with pride and honour. Marathoners!
I will be taking photos at the end. remember to smile.
