Sprint Series- Duathlon

Due to the few days of hot and humid, my camera woman unable to make it for the sprint series. so no choice, I leave the house alone. Reaching the carpark at about 730am. I managed to find a spot and quickly park.

change into my running shoes, and took out the bike, put on the bib number, i proceed to the starting line. can see most of the participant had already gather at the transition pt. i try to look for my number, notice that it was about 5m away from the bike in. hmm.. cool, it is always good to have your transition near the starting bike out.

put up the bike, i got the feeling again! need to release. quickly went over to the portable toilet. on the way out, heard a shouted "oi burnz" it was LT. i signal to him and went to q for the toilet. while in the q, aaron aka aeroscan came. asked me if there is any toilet paper. haha i will let you know in a while. not too long, i finish my bz and went over to the transition to check if everything is in order and visually imagine how it will be. in the TP, saw jodan at his bike, he is quite near to me. we chatted a awhile and went over to the side and wait for the starts. saw shut and him mha. after hearing the announcement, we went over to the SP. shut suddenly asked me what time i am expecting to finish. 45mins? wah, you so fast reply shut. thinking for a while. oh ya, quite immpossible leh. hmm, i guess about an hour ba. We waited a while, the race starts.

3km- Run

i started off the run in good form, keeping in mind, i should not be too far away from aaron. keeping him in view, i run by the side. 1km mark on the road, i see my watch, it was 3min.30sec. aaron still within sight, i continue to followed. 2km, 9mins. we skip the water pt and race though the Transition pt.

Time: sub 14mins.

15km- Bike

running into the Transition, I had slow down. ran to the bike, i pick up my helmet, took a quick drinks. i begin my bike. first loops of the round, i push up the crank and power off. i couldn`t see aaron at the moment. into the first loops, i went into aerobar. at this pt, the legs still strong, i peddle strong. going into the slope, i reached the u turn, slow down a bit on the turning. up slope on the way back, a little struggle on the hills. while reaching the u uturning pt, i was still in high speed and in aerobar. powering fast, i did not slow down at the u turn, instead, right hand was braking and left hand still on the bar. i guess i must had frighten the staff there. i could hear shouting. haha.

second loops and third loops was the same way. shouting thru-out the way. the mountain bike is taking the space. i finally finish the bike in about 32mins.

3km- Run

putting up the bike on the rack, i took a quick drinks, taking off my helmet. i slowly pace into the starts of the run. looking at the time, it was 48mins. my transition should be about 3 mins while running out. i knew if i push harder, i might be able to do a sub 65mins. running on the way into the reservoir while reaching the tower, i could see the winner on the way back. wah he is fast, at least 15mins in the front.

continuing in to the road, the support crew and marshallers is helpful and their cheers is welcoming. at 1km mark, my leg felt better and i could pace faster. reaching the water pt, i took the plain water a slip and pour the rest on the head. took a isotonic drink, i nealy choke. haha.

running up the final stretch, i saw the 2km mark. i knew i am finishing, i pace faster and pass more runner on the road. on the last 300m, i saw aaron in the front. i started to sprint and pace strongly back to the finishing pt.

time: 64mins.

good session today, as the leg and body still felt good even after the run yesterday. no tireness feeling, felt fresh. i was quite happy with the result as i am only about 2 mins off Aaron.

Jodan and shut did well too. We went off for a well deserving prata meal with LT after the event.
Looking foward to the Sprint Trialthon coming June.

For now, more long run preparing for sundown. or is it time to taper? beer anyone :P
